Bantay Bell Tower
Towering over the town, the Bantay Bell Tower is a sight to behold, standing separately over a hilltop. The original structure as it stands today was built by Augustinian missionaries in 1591, most likely as a part of the parish church nearby. It was made of bricks, rocks, and a mixture of seashells and sugar cane. The bell tower stands on the tallest point in the town, and was used as a watch tower during the Spanish colonial period. As such, the tower is aptly named since “bantay” is an Ilocano word for both “mountain” and “guard.”

SECOND DAY EXPLORATION

As early as 4am we were already on our way to Pagudpod, Ilocos Norte - the "Haven of the North" because of its unspoiled natural resources, peaceful community and beautiful beaches.

Next on our itinerary list was White Rock Formation in Kapurpurawan

Bangui Windmills are huge, powerful, and modern-looking considered to be the biggest in Southeast Asia. It sells 40% electricity to Ilocos Norte and is contributing to reduce the greenhouse effect which causes global warming.

Cape Bojeador Lighthouse also known as Burgos Lighthouse, is a cultural heritage structure in Burgos, Ilocos Norte that was established during the Spanish Colonial period. First lit on March 30, 1892 and is set high on Vigia de Nagparitan Hill overlooking the scenic Cape Bojeador where early galleons used to sail by. After over 100 years, it still functions as a welcoming beacon to the international ships that enter the Philippine Archipelago from the north and guide them safely away from the rocky coast of the town.

THIRD DAY EXPLORATION

We spent a night with my comare's family in Pasuquin which is a place known for salt making.

Fort Ilocandia
The only 5-star deluxe resort hotel in northern Philippines sprawling over 77 hectares of land amidst gentle sand dunes and pine forests with a 2 kilo-meter sandy beach facing the South China Sea. It is located in the heart of the city of Laoag and the province of Ilocos Norte. It’s a 10 minutes drive from Fort Ilocandia Golf & Country Club at Paoay and from the Laoag International Airport.

Dropping at Plaza del Norte before heading up to Fort Ilocandia Golf and Country Club.

Java Hotel is famous for its unique Balinese Moroccan atmosphere, exquisite Spanish design and warm Ilocano touch. Its recreational facilities will surely meet your needs and expectations for it includes a souvenir shop, tennis court, fitness gym, and swimming pool, as well as a function hall.

The Sinking Bell Tower of Laoag City is one of the first things you may spot upon entering the city proper. It’s a massive 45-meter bell tower said to be one of the tallest bell towers in the Philippines and was built by the Augustinians in 1612. The tower has earned its “sinking” reputation because it is so heavy and it was build on sandy foundations that it has consistently sunk into the ground. Stories mention that a person on horseback could enter the tower with ease back when it was built. Now, a person of normal height has to bend down just to enter the vaulted entrance.

Known as the “Earthquake Baroque” church in the Philippines, Paoay Church was built of baked bricks, coral rocks, salbot (tree sap) and lumber, and has 24 carved massive buttresses for support.

How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you. Psalm 31:19

We give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever." Psalm 107:1

Four Seasons

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away. The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall.

When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.

The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.

The second son said no--it was covered with green buds and full of promise.

The third son disagreed, he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.

The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.

The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but ONLY one season in the tree's life. He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are--and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life--can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.

If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall.

Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.

Don't judge life by one difficult season.

Persevere through the difficult patches and better times are sure to come some time or later.

What Makes You Different (Makes You Beautiful)

Ang sabi ng isang kanta...
“What makes you different, makes you beautiful, what’s there inside you shines through to me.”

Hmmmmnn...

What Makes You Different (Makes You Beautiful)
By BackStreet Boys

What's there inside you
Shines through to me
In your eyes I see all the love I'll ever need
What makes you different makes you beautiful to me

You got something so real
You touched me so deep
See, material things don't matter to me
So come as you are, you got nothing to prove
You won me with all that you do
And I wanna take this chance to say to you

What makes you different makes you beautiful
What's there inside you
Shines through to me
In your eyes I see all the love I'll ever need
What makes you different
Makes you beautiful...

You don't know how you touched my life
Oh in so many ways I just can't describe
You taught me what love is supposed to be
it's all the little things that make you beautiful to me
So beautiful...

(Ila saying)
God...
Everything in you is beautiful
Love you give shines right to me
Everything in you is beautiful
Beautiful to me
To me.......
